Abstract

Successful breastfeeding is strongly influenced by maternal knowledge especially among primiparous mothers who lack prior experience. Limited information often leads to incorrect breastfeeding techniques and a poor understanding of the benefits of breast milk. Health education through appropriate media is essential to address these challenges. This study introduces BOOMI (Breastfeeding Mother’s Booklet) an educational print medium designed not only to provide scientific information but also to incorporate islamic religious values as a holistic approach to strengthen mother’s spiritual motivation and confidence. A Quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was employed, involving 60 primiparous breastfeeding mothers randomly asseigned to intervention and control groups. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U tests. The result showed significant improvement in knowledge after the intervention (p <0.05) and a meaningful difference between the intervention and control groups (p <0.05). BOOMI proved to be an effective educatinal too that enhances both the cognitive and spiritual aspects of breastfeeding mothers, making it a promising method for health promotion.
