Abstract
A person aged 60 years and above, commonly referred to as elderly, is in the advanced stage of life, characterized by a decline in the body's ability to adapt to environmental stress. One of the promotive efforts for the elderly is providing health education. Range of Motion (ROM) exercises are activities that can be offered to the elderly so they can maintain or improve their ability to move. Based on this, the community service team conducted an outreach program aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills in performing ROM exercises. The activity was carried out by first providing health education, followed by training and assisting the elderly in performing ROM movements correctly. The method used in this service is counseling, which aims to increase knowledge, and a demonstration of upper and lower ROM exercises. This community service activity involved 15 participants. The results show that before the counseling, most participants had adequate knowledge (53.3%), and after the counseling, most participants had good knowledge (73.3%), with all participants actively engaging in the ROM assistance. The conclusion of this service is that it can improve knowledge and skills in performing ROM exercises.
