The relationship of eating with the menstrual cycle in teenage women in class XII at SMA Negeri 1 Sidareja

Abstract

There are several factors that affect menstrual cycle disorders, one of which is diet. This study aims to find out the relationship between dietary patterns and menstrual cycles in 12th grade girls in 1st State High School of Sidareja. A type of quantitative research with correlational descriptive designs using cross sectional designs of 70 teenage girls in 12th grade at 1st State High School Sidareja taken using the Cluster Random Sampling method. Results show that 12th grade girls in 1st grade state high school mostly have dietary patterns in good categories (55.7%), the majority have normal menstrual cycles (21-35 days) (78.6%). There is a significant relationship between the diet and the cycle of menstrual periods in 12th class girls in 2nd grade State high school (pv = 0.024, α = 0.05, OR 4.8 CI : 1.352 – 17.127). The diet determines the menstrual cycle of the teenage daughter of the 12th grade in the 1st State High School of Sidareja. Teenage girls with a good diet are 4.8 times more likely to have a normal menstrual cycle than teenagers with a poor diet.
